I’m delighted to be one of the stops on the blog tour for Tangled Vines by Megan Mayfair and sharing my review today. First of all though let’s take a look at the description for the book…
ABOUT THE BOOK
Amelia O’Sullivan is a photographer who has always viewed herself through the wrong lens. When her marriage publicly crashes around her, she flees to the safety of her aunt’s country property to pick up the pieces. Can she adjust her focus to what she really wants from her life?
Born into a wealthy and powerful family, Frederick Doyle may seem like a man who has it all, but behind the scenes, a bitter business feud threatens an irrevocable family split. As he fights for control of the winery he’d built from the ground up, he finds a supportive ally in Amelia and becomes increasingly beguiled by her creative spirit.
Jill McMahon is a successful novelist suffering from writer’s block over her latest manuscript. Finding her niece, Amelia, at her door, reminds her of the bonds of family, but in seeing Amelia and Frederick’s relationship grow, a long-forgotten and painful secret threatens tore-surface.
Can Amelia, Frederick and Jill untangle themselves from their pasts or will history simply repeat itself?
I’m not quite sure how to start this review other than to say that I was whisked away to Australia to spend time with a wonderful group of characters. There was family, love and friendship all rolled into this story which easily pulled me in and kept my attention. Megan Mayfair has created characters that felt very real with problems and worries. Along with getting to see them experience the lows there were also the highs and I loved seeing Amelia’s character grow. Gaining some well needed confidence after all the knocks she had been dealt.
The friendships that are portrayed in this book were if I’m honest my favourite part of the story and even though there is romance it isn’t the main feature. Just one of the lovely aspects to this book that brought a little extra special touch.
Megan Mayfair has a wonderful writing style that was a joy to read and really made me care about this set of characters. Making me hope that everything would turn out okay in the end for them. Sometimes if there are multiple characters to follow the story can suffer but I thought that the story was only enhanced by the characters perspectives. There are a few secrets, a bit of drama, emotion and a few twists along the way to keep things entertaining. Tangled Vines is such a well rounded story that has a little bit of everything, loved it!
With thanks to Rachel at Rachel’s Random Resources and the author for my copy.
