The Disappeared by Sibel Hodge @sibelhodge #BlogTour @bloodhoundbook #Review

Thank you for stopping by today as I share my review for The Disappeared by Sibel Hodge as part of the blog tour. First of all though let’s take a look at the description for the book…

ABOUT THE BOOK

The widow. The secret. The liar.

The Disappeared…

On a routine flight from Africa to England, Dr Mason Palmer is tragically killed when the light aircraft he’s travelling on crashes and disappears in dense bush land.

The Widow…

Ten months later, Nicole Palmer is still trying to block out the grief of her husband’s sudden death. Until one morning she receives a photo of Mason through the post, along with a cryptic message. A message only he could’ve written.

The Secret…

But when Nicole tries to find out if Mason is really alive and what actually happened to him in Africa, everyone she turns to for answers ends up dead.

Determined to find the truth, Nicole uncovers a conspiracy that spans the globe, and discovers there are powerful people who are prepared to kill to keep her silent.

Who’s lying? Who’s watching Nicole? And can she expose their murky secrets before they catch up with her?

MY REVIEW

In this book we follow Nicole who is still grieving the loss of her husband when she is plunged into a nightmare situation full of secrets, lies and conspiracies. Along with a dark undercurrent and some very dangerous individuals who will stop at nothing to get what they want.

The pacing of the book is steady and even though for me it wasn’t the most fast paced story the times when the momentum did pick up I ended up glued to my Kindle. I enjoyed how this book posed plenty of questions such as what happened to Nicole’s husband and did he discover something he shouldn’t have. The main one was how on earth would Nicole get herself out of the situation she found herself in and boy did she find herself in some very extreme situations! For some of the situations you may have to suspend disbelief at times but this also added extra shocks and helped to keep me invested in the story. I have to say I admired Nicole’s determination to discover the truth even if it did mean putting herself in the firing line. There are serious issues at the heart of this book and this does help to give the story an extra depth and will certainly make you think about the situations in this book.

The Disappeared is a story that takes you on quite a journey into the darker side of life along with corruption and lies lurking below the surface.

With thanks to Emma at Bloodhound Books for my copy.
