What do you do when the past becomes your future?

The year is 2089, and time-travelling journalist AshleyRiveraine gets a once in a lifetime opportunity to interview her childhoodhero, Alexander the Great. She expects to come out with an award-winningarticle, but doesn’t count on Fate intervening.

Alexander mistakes Ashley for Persephone, goddess of thedead, and kidnaps her, stranding her in his own time. Being stuck 3000 years inthe past with the man of her dreams wouldn’t be so bad if the scientists of theTime Institute hadn’t threatened to erase Ashley from existence if she changeshistory.

Ashley must now walk a tightrope, caught up in thecataclysmic events of the time, knowing what the future holds for the peopleshe comes to love but powerless to do anything to influence it.

Join Ashley on her hilarious, bumpy journey into the past asshe discovers where her place in history truly is…

I’ve always loved the idea of time travel so as soon as I read the blurb I knew I needed to read this book! I really liked the way that Jennifer Macaire created the time travel aspect along with a few twists to make it just that little bit different. In The Road to Alexander we meet Ashley as she is chosen to travel back in time to interview Alexander the Great and what follows is quite an adventure!

In The Road to Alexander there is descriptive writing that really helps to set the scene and brings the whole setting to life. I thought that the author did a great job of including just the right amount of historical detail but without going overboard in descriptions. Then add in some intriguing characters and I found myself invested in their story. Now Ashley is an interesting character and to be perfectly honest I’m not really sure that I fully warmed to her. However I don’t mind characters with flaws and as the story progressed her personality slowly but surely began to shine through.

One of the great things about this book was the fact that I was kept on my toes not knowing what would happen next. With danger and politics Ashley easily finds herself drawn more and more into Alexander’s life. Along the way you see tangled and sizzling relationships formed and also the power that Alexander somehow holds over people. This book provides escapism along with the mixture of genres to keep things interesting. The Road to Alexander is part of a series so I’m looking forward to seeing what will happen next.

It’s safe to say that The Road to Alexander took me on quite a journey!

With thanks to Rachel at Rachel’s Random Resources and the author for my copy.
