I’m thrilled to be one of the bloggers taking part in the tour for The Uncompromising Lord Flint by Virginia Heath and today you can catch my review. First of all though let’s take a look at the description for the book…
ABOUT THE BOOK
Imprisoned by her past- Set free by her enemy!
Charged with high treason, Lady Jessamine Fane is under the watchful eye of icily calm Lord Peter Flint. It’s a task this spy won’t be swayed from, no matter how alluring his prisoner! Only it’s not long before Flint realises that tenacious Jess hides a lifetime of pain. With so much at stake, can he afford to take a chance on their powerful attraction?
I have been looking forward to the next in The King’s Elite series ever since I finished The Mysterious Lord Millcroft which is book one in the series. It made my book picks for 2018 so if you do get chance it is well worth picking a copy up. Now even though The Uncompromising Lord Flint is part of a series it still works really well as a standalone. So what did I think…
In this book we are introduced to Jessamine/Jess and Lord Flint/Peter and what a brilliant opening it is as we see Peter and Jess meet and what a pairing they make. Both strong willed characters that completely captured my attention from the very first chapter. Put it this way Peter certainly meets his match in Jess! As we get to see her fiery and strong willed personality but as with most things first impressions don’t always count. As the book progresses her character develops in a wonderful way with you beginning to see that there is so much more to her, which I loved! Then you have Peter who on the surface is calm and collected but underneath it all there is something very special. I have to admit I fell for him myself 😉 There is a wonderful chemistry between the pair but will they go from enemies to lovers?
I loved Peter’s family dynamic so a special mention has to go to them. They added a lovely and at times amusing edge that helped balance against the danger that was lurking below the surface.
The pacing of this book is excellent and in no time at all I was nearing the end but what a gorgeous journey this book took me on. Virginia Heath always manages to inject a wonderful amount of wit into her books along with creating the most loveable characters and this book is another perfect example of this. The characters in this book are so engaging and I was quite sad to say goodbye to them! However after reading this book and seeing more of Hadleigh and Gray I can’t wait for their stories!
With spies, danger and romance The Uncompromising Lord Flint has it all! Another brilliant addition to the Kings Elite series. Loved it!
With thanks to Virginia Heath and Rachel at Rachel’s Random Resources for my copy.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
When Virginia Heath was a little girl it took her ages to fall asleep, so she made up stories in her head to help pass the time while she was staring at the ceiling. As she got older, the stories became more complicated, sometimes taking weeks to get to the happy ending. Then one day, she decided to embrace the insomnia and start writing them down. Despite that, it still takes her forever to fall asleep.
