I can’t believe that Revenge on the Rye is the fifth book in The London Murder Mysteries, it really is a fabulous cosy crime series. I know this is well into a series but please don’t let that stop you from picking up a copy. This book easily works as a standalone although if you do prefer to know full character backgrounds you may feel more comfortable starting with book one. So what did I think…

When I picked up this book it felt as if I was catching up with friends, well friends that always find themselves in trouble anyway! Beth is such a likeable character she is as ever trying to juggle life as a working mum, a relationship and of course finding dead bodies! In this book we also have the addition of the canine variety and I was instantly smitten with Colin. Yes, you heard that right a dog called Colin! Along with a troublesome but very cute pup called Teddy.

Revenge on the Rye has a great combination of winning characters and a mystery that Beth as ever can’t help but find herself caught up in. Along with some witty writing from Alice Castle that left me smiling away to myself. All in all it balances so well with the odd darker moment helping to keep it on the whole light and in keeping with a brilliant cosy mystery. You get to see Beth sleuthing in her own special way but also see her worries about her son and his education. The plot moves at a good pace along with keeping me invested in seeing how it would all turn out in the end!

As soon as I turned the last page I instantly wanted to know what would happen next in Beth’s lively and far from quiet life!
