Thank you for stopping by! I’m thrilled to be one of the stops on the blog tour for Forget Me Not by Claire Allan and sharing my review today! With thanks to Sabah at Avon for the invite to join the tour and for my copy. First of all though let’s take a look at the description for the book…
ABOUT THE BOOK
I disappeared on a Tuesday afternoon. I was there one minute and the next I was gone. They’ve never found my body…
It’s six in the morning during the hottest summer on record when Elizabeth O’Loughlin, out walking her dog, comes across Clare, a victim of a horrific knife attack, clinging onto life at the side of the road.
Clare dies minutes later, but not before whispering her haunting last words to Elizabeth.
When it becomes clear that Clare’s killer has more than one murder on his mind, Elizabeth has to take drastic action or face losing everything.
But what if she can’t stop a killer determined never to be forgotten?
I’m not really sure where to start my review other than to say please make sure that you have plenty of time for reading when you pick up this book. What can I say once I started this book it grabbed hold of me and I didn’t want to put it down until I had all the answers. In Forget Me Not we follow two characters Elizabeth and Rachel as they deal with the fall out from Claire’s death. Both perspectives are brilliantly written and I easily became invested in these two characters seeing how this death affects both of them. Those last words to Elizabeth made me question everything and wonder at what would happen next. Let me just say I’m not the most patient person but Claire Allan teased and worked each thread in this story out at perfectly placed points.
The pacing is for the most part full on and at times I was trying to read as fast as I could especially near the end where the tension and thrilling edge to the story pretty much bursts out from the pages. I loved being kept on my toes along with trying to figure it all out. There is also something thought provoking about the story with past actions not always staying buried. In this book you are guaranteed a tense and dark undercurrent running throughout. Everything works really well from the main characters to the minor characters all bringing a new and sometimes surprising layer to the story.
Forget Me Not is a twisty, dark and tension filled story that will have you racing through the pages desperate to discover every little detail!
