Today I’m bringing you the next two reviews for my 20 Books of Summer challenge, all be it as mini reviews. First up is book 16 of the challenge, Silent Scream by Angela Marsons and then I have a review for The Flower Girls by Alice Clark-Platts which is book 17.

MY REVIEW
I can’t believe I left it so long before picking Silent Scream up, I’m way behind with this series but I intend to catch up as quickly as I can. I loved D.I. Kim Stone she is straight talking and pretty much does her own thing which means things are kept very interesting! Her interactions with Bryant were especially entertaining.
This book had me intrigued from the very first page and continued to keep me invested in both the story and characters all the way through. The investigation hits dead ends at every turn so Kim and her team have a difficult job trying to fit all the clues together to solve the case. Even though there is a chilling edge to this book I loved the moments of humour that Angela Marsons dotted throughout creating a brilliant contrast to those darker moments.
It’s the type of book where you need to keep on reading there is a moreish quality to it that meant I found it hard to put down. All I can say is roll on the next book, I can’t wait to see what else is in store for D.I. Kim Stone!

MY REVIEW
This was such an interesting and twisty book one that kept me on my toes for most of the story. Even though I had my suspicions about where the story was going I still enjoyed seeing the story play out. Although I will admit that I did keep second guessing myself especially as we see the parts set in the past where the details are slowly revealed.
There is something about The Flower Girls that easily kept me invested in seeing the truth emerge. One of the main things was the characters, let’s just say they aren’t exactly likeable which all helped to create a menacing and darker edge. There is also a thought provoking edge to this book regarding the law and how it punishes or doesn’t punish children of a certain age. The ending especially stands out for me and I’m sure it’s one that I will remember for quite a while!
The Flower Girls is dark, unsettling at times and very twisty!
