Thank you for stopping by! It’s been a while since I posted anything on my blog. I guess like everyone else I haven’t a clue what day it is. It seems like the days are going by quite quickly especially with my children at home and trying to complete school work. It is Monday, right? 🤷🏻♀️
Anyway I do have a review to share with you today and it’s for His Runaway Lady by Joanna Johnson. With a big thank you to the author for my lovely copy. First things first let’s take a look at the description for the book…
ABOUT THE BOOK
From one convenient marriage…
Shunned by society because of his parentage, half Roma blacksmith Fell Barden lives a simple life alone in the forest, until his peace is disturbed by an injured runaway lady. Fleeing a forced marriage, Sophia Somerlock needs his help. Caring for the intriguing miss, Fell feels an intense connection to her. The obvious solution is to save her by marrying her himself…but that would mean returning to the ton that rejected him…
The beginning grabbed my attention straight away showing Sophia escaping from a forced marriage. This drama filled beginning leads to her meeting Fell Barden who lives in the forest. He is pretty much shunned by the village and earns a living as a blacksmith. They may be from different backgrounds but I loved the connection between this pair and how there were a few sparks of chemistry right from the beginning.
Joanna Johnson managed to weave Sophia and Fell’s back stories into this book in such a wonderful way. It really helped to give me a better feel for the characters and how they are both quite wary of building a connection. However slowly but surely their friendship builds along with a growing chemistry until the past comes crashing into the present and disrupts this new life that Sophia has been building.
The plot moves at a lovely pace and I was invested in His Runaway Lady throughout. The romance was a slow burner but it worked for me especially as the past still weighs heavy on both of them and provides a few stumbling blocks along the way. Trust is a big issue for this pair and the big question is can they overcome the past and look to a bright and wonderful future? Well, if you are looking for a historical romance with a sweet romance at its heart then His Runaway Lady might be the perfect book for you!
