Thanks for stopping by! I’m thrilled to be sharing my review for The Earl with the Secret Past by Janice Preston. It is also publication day so sending very best wishes along with a big thank you for my lovely review copy. First things first let’s take a look at the description for the book…
ABOUT THE BOOK
An unexpected inheritance
An explosive reunion
Hardworking architect Adam Monroe’s world is shaken when he inherits an earldom! Thrust into the ton, he bumps into widow Kitty Fenton—his lost love. Years before, he refused to elope with Kitty to save her from ruin, and was heartbroken when she married soon after he left. Perhaps fate has given him a chance to discover the truth—after all, beneath the hurt, the sparks of attraction are as strong as ever…
I do love a second chance love story especially when the misunderstandings in the past are still causing repercussions in the present. In The Earl with the Secret Past we meet Kitty and Adam and I just loved their story!
There really is a wonderful warmth to this whole book and the characters definitely added to this. It was so lovely to see Adam and Kitty meet once again. Seeing the sparks fly as their chemistry is renewed and building even more as they spend time together. Although it’s safe to say that past hurts are still very much near the surface especially where Kitty is concerned. Kitty is a strong character and is instantly likeable. She carries hurt from the past so this gives her a slightly vulnerable edge. This also brings all those emotions once more to the surface as she comes into contact with Adam again. Adam is another loveable character who is straightforward, honest and kind. After receiving the news he is an earl you can see the conflicting emotions over this whole new life that has opened up to him. There is also a little bit of conflict when this pair come face to face but there is also a wonderful chemistry simmering away and I couldn’t wait to see how it would all play out.
The Earl with the Secret Past moves at a lovely pace and I was completely invested in Adam and Kitty’s story. I was hoping for a happy ever after even though this pair faced a few obstacles in their path. I really loved the way that Janice Preston kept me on my toes with a little bit of drama, mystery and danger which all added an intriguing edge to the book. The Earl with the Secret past is a gorgeous romance that whisked me away, first page to last!
