Thanks for stopping by! I’m thrilled to be sharing my review for The Secrets of Meadow Farmhouse by Katie Ginger today. With thanks to the publisher for my copy via Netgalley. First things first let’s take a look at the description for the book…
Amelia loves her life in Paris. But with the surprise inheritance of her childhood home, Meadow Farmhouse, she has no choice but to return to the small village of Meadowbank to restore her great-aunt’s old farmhouse. However returning to Meadowbank means she has to confront her past, including old flame Adam.
When Amelia discovers a locket hidden in the farmhouse, containing the picture of a mysterious World War Two soldier, she starts to uncover the secrets of her great-aunt’s past and is drawn further into village life. Shocked by the warm welcome from the villagers and her own surprising feelings for first love Adam, Amelia is suddenly confused as to where she truly belongs.
Can Amelia finally confront her own past and find where her heart truly calls home?
In The Secrets of Meadow Farmhouse we meet Amelia who receives the news that her great-aunt, Vera has left her Meadow Farmhouse in her will. Amelia’s plan is to return to her childhood home in Meadowbank, restore the farmhouse and then get back to her life in Paris. Sounds like Amelia has it all sorted, right?! What follows is a story of second chance romance, friendships and even a touch of mystery.
You know that warm and comforting feeling you sometimes get from a book. Well, The Secrets of Meadow Farmhouse had that in abundance! For me it was such a wonderful escape. I was whisked away to Meadowbank with Amelia and within a short space of time I wished it was a real place so I could visit myself.
Even though there was a heartwarming aspect to the plot the author also managed to create a depth to the story. This at times brought a more bittersweet feel to the surface and I found these moments really helped to create a more rounded story.
The thread of mystery running throughout was also a brilliant addition. The short but intriguing prologue started this mystery and ran alongside an engaging and gorgeous romance. This brings me nicely to Amelia and Adam. What can I say? I really enjoyed getting to know this pair. With the past putting up so many barriers. I did wonder if they would even become friends again let alone anything more. There was a definite slow burn to the romance but it also felt more believable that way. It’s safe to say I was rooting for them to get their happy ever after!
The Secrets of Meadow Farmhouse had an engaging romance alongside a wonderful cosy feel that charmed me from the very beginning!
