Thanks for stopping by! I’m delighted to be sharing my review for Secrets of Her Forbidden Knight by Ella Matthews as part of the blog tour today. With thanks to Rachel at Rachel’s Random Resources for the invite to join the tour and to the author for my copy. First things first let’s take a look at the description for the book…
She’s rescued a knight
Now she needs the favour returned…
When widowed Lady Johanne happens upon an injured knight, she sees an opportunity to form an alliance and protect her home, Castle Brae, from her enemies. The betrothal she proposes might be merely for appearances, but the very real attraction between her and Sir Alewyn thrills and disturbs her. For it’s clear he’s hiding something… Can she trust him, with so much at stake?
Secrets of Her Forbidden Knight was a story that charmed me from the very beginning.
The story moved at a lovely pace and I enjoyed being transported to the past. Johanne is trying her best to look after Castle Brae and the people who live there. However the situation is getting more dangerous every day, when in steps Alewyn. There is mistrust and a bit of drama between the pair especially when Alewyn is at Castle Brae with an ulterior motive. This makes for an entertaining read. It was also lots of fun to see them dance around each other all the while sparks of chemistry began to fly between them. I really enjoyed getting to know both Johanne and Alewyn. Especially seeing their heartfelt connection grow even if they did fight against it!
There is romance and a touch of danger in the pages of this book that made for an entertaining story. I love the escape that historical romance provides and this story is another wonderful example of this. Secrets of Her Forbidden Knight was both romantic and heartwarming!
Ella Matthews lives and works in beautiful South Wales. She writes medieval romances for Mills & Boon. When not thinking about handsome heroes she can be found walking along the coast with her husband and their two children (probably still thinking about heroes but at least pretending to be interested in everyone else).
